The population of the Dallas-Fort Worth area keeps swelling, and is now the 4th largest metro area in the country, up from 6th place in 2010. In fact, DFW was only one of three metros to gain at least 1.2 million residents since 2010, along with Houston and NYC. DFW’s attractive quality of life, strong regional and state economy, low cost of living, skilled labor force, pro-business mindset, and lack of corporate and personal income taxes contribute to a thriving economy.
RECENT DALLAS-FORT WORTH EXPANSIONS AND RELOCATIONS
Its growth in Dallas (and Texas, overall) has lured in companies from other states such as California and New York. And, a massive number of tech companies, in particular, have declared DFW as their new, permanent home.
A Fort Worth Report analysis of Dallas Regional Chamber data compiled from news articles shows 44 corporations have either expanded operations, added new facilities or relocated their headquarters to Fort Worth since 2010. Compared with the total number for North Texas, that accounts for 8.3% of all announcements since 2010. In total, 530 corporations announced big business moves to the region between 2010 and January 2022, according to the Dallas Regional Chamber’s data. The area’s expansion rate has increased by 48 percent, making it the eighth-most rapidly expanding city in the nation.
Much of the growth can be attributed to building various forms of transportation strategically ahead of actual need beginning with the DFW International Airport. The airport set the region to be recognized as a national crossroads. Being strategically centered in the middle of the country, DFW Airport allows travelers to travel to either coast in a matter of a few hours. Furthermore, the surrounding transportation supporting the 12th largest airport in the country and nearby towns is equally as impressive.
